　　(B) that had flourished at the same time as had the civilizations

　　(C) that flourished at the same time those had

　　(D) flourishing at the same time as those did

　　答案解析如下：

　　(A)that flourished at the same time as the civilizations

　　【正确】

　　(B)that had flourished at the same time as had the civilizations

　　【错误】 动词时态：过去完成时的“had flourished”当且仅当需要强调发生在过去动作或时间之前的动作时才使用，而本句中“had

　　flourished”之前仅有一个一般现在时的动词“threaten”，因此此处误用过去完成时。

　　(C)that flourished at the same time those had

　　【错误1】 代词指代：“those”本应指代“civilization”，但在GMAT考察的标准书面英语中，代词只能指代句子中出现的，与之数量形式一致的名词性结构。因此复数的“those”无法指代单数的“civilization”。
